Position Overview:
As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing operational processes, ensuring high levels of efficiency, and fostering a culture of collaboration across all departments. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in healthcare law, business operations, and organizational leadership. Your strategic vision and leadership will directly contribute to our firm's growth, profitability, and commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Lead and manage all operational functions, including HR, legal operations, IT, compliance, and client services, ensuring smooth, efficient, and effective processes across the firm.
  • Strategic Planning: Work closely with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the firm's long-term strategy. Provide insights and recommendations to guide firm growth and maintain competitive positioning in the healthcare legal industry.
  • Financial Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure the firm's financial health and profitability.
  • Talent Management & Development: Foster a culture of high performance and professional development. Lead efforts to recruit, train, and retain top talent, including lawyers, paralegals, and operational staff.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners in the healthcare industry. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through effective service delivery.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Oversee compliance with healthcare regulations and legal industry standards. Implement and enforce policies to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Innovation & Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, technological advancements, and innovative solutions to improve client service, reduce costs, and streamline workflows.
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Lead and inspire teams across various departments to achieve firm-wide objectives. Promote a collaborative and inclusive working environment that encourages open communication and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within the healthcare legal, legal services, or healthcare management industry.
    • Proven track record of driving operational excellence, managing large teams, and implementing organizational strategies in complex, highly regulated environments.
  • Healthcare Legal Expertise:
    • Deep understanding of healthcare law, regulations, and industry trends.
    • Experience navigating the unique challenges of the healthcare legal sector, including compliance, reimbursement issues, and healthcare provider needs.
  • Education:
    • A bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare management, law, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA or JD) is preferred.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present complex ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Financial Acumen:
    • Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and operational efficiency metrics.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
    • Ability to think strategically and manage complex, high-stakes situations with clear, actionable decisions.
